Polarization-Sensitive Nonlinear Optical Interaction of Ultrashort Laser Pulses with HPHT Diamond

چکیده
The filamentation of focused 300 fs laser pulses with variable polarization azimuth in bulk synthetic HPHT diamond demonstrates the possibility polarization-dependent bandgap control for crystal dielectric photoexcitation. This directly affects value threshold power, which exhibits distinct dependence on angle. nonlinear photoluminescence yield, when focusing ultrashort diamond, indicates different regimes dynamics electron-hole plasma formation, arising due to processes photoexcitation and recombination free carriers during process. Thus, at onset process, relatively low intensities, yield rate depends controlling bandgap, while high intensities resulting dense absorbing isotropy respect radiation polarization, weakly azimuth.

All-Optical Histology Using Ultrashort Laser Pulses
As a means to automate the three-dimensional histological analysis of brain tissue, we demonstrate the use of femtosecond laser pulses to iteratively cut and image fixed as well as fresh tissue. Cuts are accomplished with 1 to 10 microJ pulses to ablate tissue with micron precision. We show that the permeability, immunoreactivity, and optical clarity of the tissue is retained after pulsed laser...
متن کاملInteraction of Rydberg atoms with two contrapropagating ultrashort laser pulses
In this paper we investigate how Rydberg atoms respond to perturbation by two contrapropagating ultrashort laser pulses. We consider the case where the durations of both pulses 1 and 2 are shorter than the inverse of the initial-state energy i . When acting alone such a pulse passes through the atom without noticeable alteration in the atomic state. The situation is different if two such pulses...
متن کاملNonlinear polarization rotation induced by ultrashort optical pulses in a semiconductor optical amplifier
We use a new rate-equation model for the propagation of sub-picosecond polarized optical pulses in a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA). This model is based on the decomposition of the polarized optical field into TE and TM components that interact via the gain saturation, and accounts for two-photon absorption, free-carrier absorption, selfand cross-phase modulation, carrier heating, and sp...
متن کاملQuadrature squeezing with ultrashort pulses in nonlinear-optical waveguides.
Using ultrashort laser pulses, we have observed quadrature squeezing and parametric gain in quasi-phase-matched KTiOPO(4) waveguides. Using a local oscillator pulse that is 2.5 times shorter than the squeezed pulse, we observed noise reduction of 12 +/- 1% below the shot-noise level. Parametric amplification and deamplification of a coherent seed pulse have also been observed, with no indicatio...
متن کاملNonlinear polarization evolution of ultrashort pulses in microstructure fiber.
We present experimental and numerical results for nonlinear polarization evolution of femtosecond pulses during propagation in microstructure fiber. Numerical modeling shows that fiber dispersion permits a long interaction length between the components polarized along the two principal axes, thereby enhancing the effective nonlinear polarization evolution in microstructure fiber.
